Our Story
History of Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Georgia

Cherubim & Seraphim church of Georgia was founded by General Leader Bishop Prophet (Dr.) Gabriel Olubunmi Fakeye. The church was officially registered on June 22,1998 to be called “Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Georgia Surulere Circuit Inc.” at 2252 Fellowship road Tucker GA 30084. After the demise of Prophet (Dr.) Bishop G.O Fakeye on January 11, 2015, the church is under the spiritual guidance and direction of his Successor General Leader Prophet (Dr.) S. F. Korode.

The mission of the church according to the founder, Bishop G.O. Fakeye was to serve as a role model and a pacesetter not only for Cherubim & Seraphim churches in America but also for the Christian churches in general. To fulfill this mission as envisioned by the founder, the church programs at Cherubim & Seraphim church of Georgia reflect the core values of a living and a Bible believing church as praise and worship, undiluted sermons and Biblical teachings form the basis our services and worships.

Pastor Anthony Babayemi was the church Pastor as of when the church was officially registered. In 2003, Dr. Olufemi Akinla was appointed as the Leader in charge and shortly after his appointment, the church relocated to a new location at 6330 Lawrenceville Hwy Tucker, Georgia 30084.

Through the magnanimous efforts of the founder, late Bishop G.O. Fakeye and coordinated by late Snr. Apostle Solomon Olotu and late Pastor Arthur Babatunde Williams, the church signed a Lease-To-Own and sales contract of 8.5 acres of land at 837 & 847 James road, Lawrenceville Georgia 30044. In 2008, the church moved to the land and renovated the abandoned old garage building to be temporarily used for the church.

The church had an administrative restructuring on July 16, 2017 where seven members Central Working Committee was inaugurated and Pastor John Olawoyin was chosen as the Chairman of the committee. On November 16, 2019 Pastor John Olawoyin was appointed as the Leader in Charge of the church.

To the glory of God, after 14 years of dealing with the uncertainty and complexity in the structure of the Lease-To-Own and sales contract of the church land, on July 11, 2022, the church finally acquired and owned the entire 8.5 acres of the land. The church is currently in the process of developing the land by constructing a new church building with multi-purpose hall, offices, classrooms, and Baptistrey. The church also plans to build an after school program facility, children and adult day cares and a gym.

In order to ensure effective church administration, coordination, relationship and fellowship among members, the church has subunits based on age, gender and God’s given talents. Hence, the formation of Choir Band, Children Ministry, Youth Ministry, Joy Band, Esther Band, Wardens, Daniel Band, and Men Ministry. In the course of these years, the church had experienced some ups and downs but to the glory and mercy of God, the church of God is standing and budding stronger.

Statement
Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures…
The Bible is the inspired Word of God – the result of men who declared and recorded as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The New Testament is what we assent as our unerring guide in all doctrine and general issues of life. (I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21).

Eternal life and the new birth…
According to II Corinthians 7:10 “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation…..”. We believe that in order to receive salvation there must first of all be godly sorrow in the individual which produces repentance leading to salvation. The New Birth is essential for all men, and when received, the product is eternal life (I John 5:12; Romans 10:9-10; John 3:3-5)

Baptism in the Holy Spirit…
We believe in the baptism of Holy Spirit and that this is available to all believers. The experience of which is manifested through the speaking in other tongues and exercising of spiritual power in Christians’ daily life. (Mathew 3:11; Acts1:8; Acts 2:4; Acts10:44-46; Acts 19:6)

Divine healing…
We believe in power of God to heal through the prayer of faith and laying-on of hand. All Christians are entitled to this power of healing which Jesus Christ has made available to us on the Cross (Matthew 8:17; Mark 16:18; James 5:14-15; I Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:4-5).

The Trinity…
We believe there is one God, existent eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit believed as being coequal (Philippians 2:6, I John 5:6-8). God the Father is the source of the Word (John 16:28, John 1:14). The Son is the Word made flesh, and has being with the Father from the foundation. (John 1 verse 1, 14 &18). The Holy Spirit advances forth from both the Father and the Son, and is eternal. (John 15:26).

Hell and eternal retribution…
We believe that anyone that dies in his sins without accepting Jesus Christ is eternally lost in Lake of Fire, therefore, has no chance to repent or hear the Gospel again.” Eternal” and “everlasting” are both terms used to describe the endless punishment of the lost and the damned in the Lake of Fire. These terms also described an endless duration of joy and elation of saints in the presence of God (Revelation 20:15; Hebrews 9:27).

Sanctification…
We believe and hold firmly the Bible teaching on holiness and sanctification, according to Hebrew 12:14 “Pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see the Lord”. We believe it is a gradual and continuous work of grace, starting the moment one receives salvation onward ( I Thessalonians 5:23; Philippians 3:12-14; II Peter 3:18; I Corinthians 1:30).

Man, his fall and redemption…
We believe man is a created being, formed in the semblance and image of God, but through Adam’s fall in the Garden, sin entered into the world (Roman 3:23). Jesus Christ – the Son, came in the replica of man and laid His life down to restore us back to God, therefore destroyed and annulled the work of the Devil (I John 3:8, Romans 5:14, Romans 3:10 & 23). Salvation is what we receive by faith in Jesus Christ and is the precious gift to mankind from God (Ephesians 2:8)

Water baptism…
We believe water baptism is by immersion for only the believers as commanded by our Lord. The dictum is a sign of believers identifying themselves with Christ, His death, burial and resurrection. (Romans 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-39; Colossians 2:12)

Resurrection of the just and the return of our Lord…
We believe in Acts 1:11 “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven” and also I Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead”. Those who are dead in Christ will rise, then those of us who are alive and remain in the faith will meet the Lord in the air.
